Description
The Playhouse Theatre in London was originally opened in the 1880s and has been known as the Playhouse Theatre since 1907. In its early history it hosted comic operas, burlesque shows, and dramas. In 1951, the BBC took over the theatre and turned it into a studio for live performances, hosting legendary bands such as The Beatles, Queen and The Rolling Stones. Since the BBC left the theatre in the 1970s the theatre has hosted a number of musical productions, and currently is showing the 1960s era juke-box musical, Dreamboats and Petticoats.
